Beef Patties with Mushroom Sauce

Sometimes beef patties can be quite simple or we eat them as hamburgers which are not always healthy. This recipe transforms a simple patty into an incomparable flavor experience, and they're easy to make and can be combined with your favorite vegetables and carbohydrate of choice.

Sometimes beef patties can be quite simple or we eat them as hamburgers which are not always healthy. This recipe transforms a simple patty into an incomparable flavor experience, and they’re easy to make and can be combined with your favorite vegetables and carbohydrate of choice.

Approximate Nutritional Content: 1 recipe makes 8 patties, nutrition per patty

  • Calories: 300 kcal.

  • Grams of fat: 19 gr. equivalent to 3 fat portions

  • Grams of protein: 26 gr. equivalent to 3.5 protein portions

  • Grams of carbohydrates: 7 gr. equivalent to half a carbohydrate portion

Ingredients:

  • 900 gr lean ground beef

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup regular oats

  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt

  • 1 tablespoon onion salt

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon oil

  • 115 gr fresh mushrooms (shiitake, porcini or white)

  • salt to taste

  • 2 cups defatted chicken broth

  • 2 tablespoons flour

Preparation:

  • In a large deep plate, combine the beef, egg, garlic and onion powder, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce.

  • When the meat mixture is ready, shape 8 patties of the same size with your hands.

  • Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, place the patties and brown them on both sides, they should not be fully cooked. Remove them from the skillet.

  • In the same skillet place the mushrooms with a pinch of salt, sauté them until they become soft.

  • Add the chicken broth and stir. While the broth boils, mix 2 tablespoons of flour with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce, add to the broth with mushrooms and stir until thickened.

  • Add the patties back to the sauce, cover them with it and let them cook for 10 to 15 minutes over low heat.
