This is a healthier version of this classic dish that uses whole wheat bread and skim milk. It can be enjoyed at any time of day with a serving of fruit.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup skim milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 6 slices whole wheat bread

  • Cooking spray oil

  • Light maple syrup or fruit

Preparation Method:

  • In a shallow bowl, mix and stir the eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon well.

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat with cooking spray oil.

  • Dip both sides of the bread in the egg mixture, making sure it is well coated.

  • Place the bread slices in the skillet, cook for 2-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

  • Place on a plate, top with syrup and fruit.
